So the Canon Elura 90 I have is dead. :S Won't see tapes, and destoyed the last tape I used. :(
Greeeeat.... remind me to ALWAYS pick up a warranty with one. :S
So now I'm in the market for a new one. I will prob. go with minidv, unless I can find something that plays miniDV tapes. I'd like to go HD, but the problem I wonder is how durable they are really? Can they take bumps, hits, some smacks? Or are they too fragile? :S
And I am also pondering getting one with a shotgun mic. *sighs* oy vey. two weeks.
For those that don't know, I love using video cameras to record stuff. I'm pretty good at it, though I could be a LOT more steady at times. And need to take better care of the equipment. Almost like a child now. *shrugs*
So my look for a camcorder?
1) durable. 2) can accept minidv and/or hd. 3) can accustom to LOW lighting situations without resorting to night shot and/or infrared technology. 4) can record fast, quick motions without going into the "blur" effect. 5) is not over $1000. Especially #5. :S Most of them over that price are also too big, which is... 6) be small enough to fit in pocket.
I'm going to look at some today. :S

Hip hop subway series.

Hip hop is not what you see on TV. It's not about girls shaking their body parts. It's not about acting like you're a badass with a gun. It's something that most people will never understand because of the negativity that's being portrayed.
What I saw today was something that not many can understand nor see... real hip hop. real people doing this stuff, the origins. In the subway the partying, the positivity...
*sighs* it was happy. full of posivity. in the subway train. :) 2 weeks til the next one.
Now back on here at home, all I feel is negativity. that HAS to change in this room, in this household. Because I don't want to end up like people who have no backbone, or people who just bitch at EVERYTHING in life. Honestly, if you have to say negative about EVERYTHING, then all you're doing is bringing people down, not "keeping it real". Life isn't all good, nor all bad. So cut the shit out about "life sucks all the time blah blah blah." No asshole, life is neutral.
Hmm.. I have to stop concentrating on the negative aspects either.
But back to the subject. Beatboxers keeping the beat going, people rapping randomly on the subway train, most of us dancing in one form or another. Violinst, flutist.. we made the music.
And I have it recorded too! :) This is the real voice of the street.
not much going on.

My day was from hell. I seem to be getting less and less patient with people lately. Maybe most of it stems from being stretched too thin. I'm a PC technician by day, so I have to troubleshoot a LOT of computers. And I get the STRANGEST things out there. Sometimes fixes come easy, sometimes they take research. I never liked the "just reformat the PC" because the first thought is "what if it happens again? Then what? You've NEVER solved it, just brushed it under the rug."
This is why I have very little love for places like Geek Squad and other wannabees. First off, I'm partially proud of the geek title, but not entirely. Too many negative connotations with it. Second off, most of the people who work in those places don't know squat on how to handle most major problems. Third off, most of them are POOR in dealing with people.
While I can agree that a lot of users tend to give the impression they are idiots, most of them are just frustrated. After all, think about it. You buy a car, not knowing much about it. You just want it to work enough to take you from point A to point B. Something goes wrong, you feel frustrated because now you feel like part of your life is shattered. I know some wise-guys love to point out how a car is less of a necessity than a PC, but think about how much of an investment here folks. You're still shelling out large amounts of money for something that is beneficial in your life. A car is not a necessity, depending on where you live *for example, NYC. Really not a good reason to own a car if you live there*
However, a thought did occur just now. It seems companies like Microsoft are now wanting the PC to be something like an household appliance. More of a TV in fact. If that is the case, then it's even more important to realize how important it is to try and get the computer to work. No matter the computer intelligence a user may have. The problem though, is that too many people see computer technicians as people to vent their frustrations out on. It's one thing to vent about issues, but don't berate the poor man who's trying to help.
Though there are those who deserve berating. Like I said, reformatting a PC is not always the answer to everything. And when reformatting, PLEASE back their files up!!!
Dancing.
2007-03-19
Before I start, I would like to state that this will be the start of a series of my thoughts on dancing, not only on my feelings, but also my thoughts/viewpoints from watching life/people.First off, I love to dance. Dancing is part of what makes my whole persona. And it took me years to figure this out. Which is a bit unfortunate because I wished I had started sooner, but at least I started now than never. What makes it unique is how I started. This will of course bring on the usual “geek” “nerd” “loser” chants that people LOVE to label others as, but hell, we’re all labeled at one point in our lives or another. So I got inspiration from video games. The dancing ones. You might have heard of them. Dance Dance Revolution is one of the more current/popular ones. I was involved in that for a good amount of years as the moniker Dollar Bill.
It’s odd. To say I was inspired by a video game. But that’s the truth. See, in most clubs all I was seeing were people grinding into one another. And all I felt was… ok, this chick is horny, blah blah blah. I didn’t feel like there was any dance to it, it was just grind yourself onto the other person, yay. During the early days, people would actually get up and try to make dance routines on the machine. Looks lame to many, but to me I thought it was damn awesome. Damn awesome because it made the game FUN! It wasn’t then about who got the highest score, but about who can be the most creative. Who can be the most technical, who can work the crowd the most. It was just… surreal. Back then, I didn’t know about the scene, so I had no idea on how to find anyone.
It was during my research that I came upon pop n lock. And I delved further in to find a style that I actually was digging. I learned what the true difference was (you cannot lump them in as that because pop n lock is actually incorrect when describing the style), I learned that people of all ages were into it, and I learned that while there was a foundation, the style evolved to a point where anyone can be creative and free. I had to sought out teaching, so I got some videos, and just followed along. After awhile, I got the basics down, not paying as much to the foundation because I had no one to teach me this.
I found out about Broadway Dance Center, and took some classes there. Mostly from jazz/hip-hop, to pop/lock. I met Jazzy J there of the Electric Boogaloos *who gave me the name Mr. Freespirit, which to this day still fits me*, who taught a lot.
From there, I just got more confident, and less shy about myself being up there. I know I’m not in the best of shapes, but I saw a LOT of good people who are in worse shape that can out move anything I do.
From there, I just have been watching and trying to understand the other styles out there. From ballroom, to funk, to pop, to jazz, to broadway, to anything, I just keep watching and observing. What I’ve always noticed in social situations is that people can dance more than they think they can’t, but they need to overcome their insecurities. It’s odd how people would sing badly and feel confident, yet “feel like a dork” when trying to dance. Then again, real dancing isn’t about trying; it’s about doing. Locking was invented in this manner, for example.
I do miss it though a lot. Right now, the only thing holding me back from going is partially the weather, and partially the time. Being exhausted with work and life, I’ve just been needing something to help spur it back up. The inspiration. DDR isn’t part of it anymore, though I still like doing that from time to time: it is a good way to workout on an aerobics scale.
so this is me.

Wow. So here I am. Mr. Freespirit. Now who the heck is he?
Well, I'll tell you a little something. I'm someone who wants to dance. For a living? Doubtful for a 31 yr old who has been doing this recently, not his whole life. But I do it anyway, no matter how good/bad it is. I just love the art. I'm very passionate about it. No matter what style. I love it better than singing. I can't sing worth a lick.
Hmm.. There's going to be a lot of personal thoughts and rants/raves about life and so forth. Some of my topics will be mundane stuff like dance dance revolution technicalities, some of it will be about my thoughts on religion and/or politics. This is just an intro post.
I really don't know much more of what t osay right now, so I'll leave it at that.
